Kings of the Old Testament

Stories of Royalty and Ruin

The books of 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles can seem tiring. A historical record of monarchs, confusing names, and little application for the modern Christian – or is there something else within those Old Testament books?

This series examines 10 different rulers of the Old Testament and highlights lessons we can glean from their successes and failures. The record of the kings in ancient Israel is a great source of learning various topics including leadership, trusting God in the midst of adversity, patience and the pitfalls of pride.

This just isn’t a section of Scripture full with nothing more than a list of ruling monarchs. Rather, by looking at these 10 kings and their individual legacies, we can see how important following God is for all of us. Through good times and hard times, God is always dealing with His people and the stories of the Old Testament kings shows us how we need to live our life serving Him.
